These are, without a doubt, the deepest cut steps and the highest rises towards the transom in a hull I've ever seen on a boat.
I'm curious as to why they're much deeper and higher stepped up than what we see here.
I'm guessing big water in the Atlantic???

Your boat looks awesome!!!

See ya,
Kelly

Wondering the same thing!

Hi Kelly and others who have asked - the vents are quite large but the geometry of the steps isn't unusual for European designs - the vents are large to prevent them getting closed off and preventing air getting to the steps and creating extra drag.

It's quite an optical illusion really and if you took a tape measure to all of the dimensions or filled in the vents it would look more "normal".

This is designed with long distance endurance racing in mind like Round Britain 2012 and Cowes Monte Carlo in 2013 so it will have to cope with the full range of conditions up to around force 6 and maybe more in the Atlantic!

The first boat will be running soon keep an eye out for the test results!

82-84mph loaded with 852 gallons of diesel, 4 people and 600lb's of gear. Thats around a 1500 mile range without refueling.
