MORE EVENT INFO

Once again, Lakeracer LLC and Teague Custom Marine have joined together to bring the best event in the country to you! Another collection of the most significant performance boats across the nation are once again planning to converge on Lake Havasu in 2011!

Wednesday will begin the long weekend with special children and their families from all over Arizona, journeying to Lake Havasu for the event of a lifetime. Together with the Arizona Chapter of Make-A-Wish Foundation and the Havasu For Youth Organization, LakeRacer and the Platinum Powerboat Club present the second annual Desert Storm “Putin on the Wish”! Providing exciting rides in high performance powerboats and raising funds to help these great charities continue their work!

Wednesday night: We are hosting an open house party at the newest Lake Havasu Boat dealership, Oregon Custom Marine. Join us for Beer and Brats provided by Romer Beverage and the Lake Havasu Marine Assocation.

Thursday will continue the excitement with a down town Street Party, opening this year at noon, all of our participants and Sponsors are invited to display their boats on McCulloch Boulevard which will be closed off for the event. Display and vendor booth areas can be purchased by our sponsors and the public. Last years Street Party was spectacular and over 14,000 people turned out from all over the area, so of course we have to make it even bigger this year. Registration and check in for the poker run and shootout will open Thursday night at the street party.

Friday morning back at the Nautical Resort, the Poker Run takes off with registration, drivers meeting and a parade thru the London Bridge Channel beginning the run. With 3 card stations in the morning, Lunch catered at the Nautical Inn, 2 card stations and a helicopter photo station in the afternoon, there is lots of fun boating action! That evening back at the Nautical Inn we have a huge Pool Party while we open the cards and record the winners, which will be announced Saturday night at the Awards Party!!!

Saturday morning begins with registration and check in for the Desert Storm Shootout. The Shootout Course starts off in Thompson Bay and runs two miles south on the Arizona side. Set to run all day with a break for lunch, we’ll see who have the fastest boats in the west and the King of the Desert!!! Spectators have a great view from Rotary Park Beach and we have display and vendor areas available there as well.

Saturday night we’ll award the top speeds in each class and crown the new King of the Desert! Dinner will be served and loads of prizes given out including the winning hands of the Poker Run, at a huge outdoor party at the Nautical Resort.

For the Desert Storm participants, sponsors and spectators, LakeRacer LLC is again producing a 64 page event magazine with over 5000 issues; advertising in this publication is our sponsors, participating advertisers. We can also showcase your business, several levels ads are available, 1/4 page, ½ page, full page or two page facing ads. Please contact Jim Nichols if you would like to advertise or sponsor. Event Registration forms can be downloaded at www.lakeracerllc.com. Make checks payable to LakeRacer, L.L.C. You can also visit our online store and sign up online with your credit card. If you have any questions, emails can be sent to Jim Nichols at [email protected].

Signed up! I'll be getting there late Thursday night/Friday morning. How does the procedure work with launching, etc. Since I will have to launch Friday morning (not sure if everyone else does also) and the drivers meeting is at 8am, what time does everyone launch and is there enough dock space to tie up before the meeting? This is my first poker run and have no idea what to expect, so sorry if the questions seem elementary

There is no "dock space" at The Nautical, so to speak. Everyone beaches their boats and I can pretty much gaurantee you wont find space at 8;00 am on the morning of the poker run.

If I were you, I'd wait to launch the boat. Go to the drivers meeting (its at 8:30), then after that launch your boat. If you're signed up for the run, you should be able to launch right from the Nautical Inn launch ramp. The boats wont gather in Thompson bay (to the front of the nautical Inn) until 10:00 for the parade lap. Unles you're in the 150+ MPH class, you wont be going in the first wave, giving you even more time.

There will be lots of information the morning of the run. If you need any help the morning of (people will be there as early, or even earlier than 7:00 am getting ready) just ask someone for help or advise.

What to expect? Expect to have a great time! What boat are you running? Many of the participants that aren't running out front in the first wave, even motor down near Steam boat cove to watch the first heat go by (see bellow), then go run the stops for their cards.

Whatever you end up doing, get ready to have the time of your life!

LOL this is my first time doing this poker run also and I'm nowhere near the 80mph group I did their small version Monster Bash back in Nov and had a great time. Last year was my first time going to Desert Storm and I'll just tell you I will never miss it again. See you guys there

I agree the street party is a blast and is growing leaps and bounds every year that has turned into a monster event and premier boat show on its own merit. But I respectfually disagree it's the "best part of the poker run". I personally enjoy being on the water boating, running from spot to spot and seeing the scenery (boats, people, parties). Boating is what it's all about. The street party is great and should be a must attend...but get me on the water!
