Narrowed decision between donzi 22zx and baja h2x. any advice?

Hey guys, I've found when buying something what I'm doing here pays off, doing hw before purchasing.

With wanting speed and a decent ride in chop (busy weekends on the lake) the Donzi 22zx and the baja h2x seem like nice choices.

I have ran into a 98 donzi 22zx I may be looking at this weekend unless something else pops up is there anything reason not to buy a 98? I noticed it has the EFI 454 with 300 or 310hp, 99's and up seem to come with MPI is there any really gain with the MPI or reason to keep looking for a 99 or newer? Is the 310hp 454 enough for this boat? the guy on the phone told me his 98 454 with 310hp the EFI version he reads 63mph on the gauge which in my experience isn't really what speed your going usually it's a bit less on gps.

and for the h2x is there any year to shoot for I noticed some come with as little as the 310hp 454 and up to a 496 375hp. Obviously one with more power that I find I would rather have.

just wanting to get advice one last time before I go take a look at this zx this coming weekend, I want to make a choice I'll be happy with and not regret so far this site has been very helpful I learned the scarab 22 and hammer don't have the deadrise for the ride I am wanting, thanks for all your tips.

I am not familiar with the Donzi but the H2X I sold was a really nice boat. I had a 385 hp 454 mag & it ran low to mid 70s. Always a smooth dry ride, one part I really liked was with the hatch up you can sit on the rear seat to work on it instead of hanging in the hatch upside down.

Donzi for sure. They are higher quality and carry a better resale value.

i had a 99 22zx with a 454mpi (310hp) it ran 63mph consistently, if i were you i would try to find one powered by a 454 mag (385hp) or a 502 Mag (415hp) as I always wanted something faster and the 454mpi is not a good base for mods. The boat handled rough water great but it can spin out if you aren't careful in the turns, fun at lower speeds but dangerous going fast. I had a lot of good times with that boat but moved on to a cat after that.

Why are you looking at the h2x instead of the outlaw if you want a better ride? Just curious..

I would definitely recommend a baja 24 outlaw over either .. much better ride, will handle 80 mph and you can get 1 on the cheap..

An H2x with the same power will be faster than the Outlaw due to the difference in deadrise. That being said, the Outlaw will give the smoother ride in chop.

Wasnt there a guy with an h2x that hit 100+ at the shootout 3 years ago or was it a hammer?
