Good job Frank!!
Oil- is that with a stock oiling system? |
Frank, What oil do you run?
|
What problems(if any) have you had with the motors? My Dad has the same motor, same year too, on his boat and has blown a few parts.

Frank, you are living the dream. You have my favorite boat, powertrain (300xs) and seem to live in a beautiful spot. I am repowering my 25 Talon from modded 300hp 260s' to twin 225 promaxes for hopefully better reliability and fuel consumption. Hope our paths cross sometime. I'm thinking about the Jacksonville poker run. Maybe I'll see you there. Bob

I blew a power head when the boat was 3 weeks old. Melted #5 piston, and ventilated the block with the rod. had 2 props fail developed cracks on the lower units, an have gone through 6 lowers, in the first 2 years burned up 1 coil, which set fire to the ignition system harness, at 2 years 2 months AFTER WARRANTY: replaced 1 electrical plate solenoid, at 3 years 3 months replaced 1 alternator that failed, at 3 years 4 months tried about a dozen sets of props, before I found the best ones for my boat. Throttle-Up, CNC 4 blade, over hub cleavers 14.75 x 31, they have never failed!

Yes, stock oil system. I thought 50:1 was about average for the 300XS?
114 miles 61.9 gallons of fuel used 3.1 gallons of oil used So I come up with 0.05008077544426494345718901453958 to 1 so you were close... :drink: |
