Default What is the best performance boat ?

Hi I am looking for the best performance boat 22ft - 23ft - 24ft

progression boats, Superboat, tuff marine, checkmate or others ?

I will fix Mercury 300xs, Evinrude 250HO or Twin Evinrude 150HO .

I can not modify the engine for the race and We can not lose weight to less than 3080 lbs because our race rule do not allow us

Already I have A velocity boat (my made ) and I want more speed

My Boat Specifications :

weight : 3080 lbs with engine, fuel and all accessories
engine : mercury 300xs
propellers : Throttle up 5 blade semi cleavers thru hub 28 p x 14.25 d
speed : 81 MPH @ 6000 RPM (1.75 gear ratio - Torque Master gear)

with evinrude 250ho i get 82 MPH @ 5750 RPM (1.71 gear ratio - L2)

with mercury 250 efi i get 77 MPH @ 5700 RPM (1.75 gear ratio)

The 24 Superboat w/300x cannot top that. The 21 can, approx. high 80's w/300x.

My Dad has a 24' Progression with 300XS. It will not outrun your Velocity. 76-78 MPH.

I think some guy who used to be on here was running over 90 with a 22 Progression/300 Yammy.

Is your dads progression is fully loaded, interior, speakers, etc.? I'd imagine stripped down it would give the velocity a run for its money, especially being 2 feet longer.

Yeah, it's pretty loaded. Might run close to 80 without the cabin, subwoofers, etc.

There's one guy running a 22' Progression with a 300X and getting 103 MPH out of it if memory serves me correctly. I get 78 MPH out of an old school 240 HP Merc on my 22'. The 24' Progression runs a little less with similar power. Laster (member here) gets 95 MPH out of a fully loaded 24' Progression with a Whipple charged 502.

Remember, if you strip the interior out and blueprint the bottom on anything, it will go faster than a stock boat.

BTW: In rough water, a Progression will absolutley walk away from any Velocity I've been in.
