Why don't you see boats with high engine hours?

I have what is probably a stupid question. Why don't you ever see boats for sale with say 1000 hours? If you get your engine rebuilt do hours go back to zero? I just bought a boat with a stock 502 with 440 hours. Is that a lot? If I do a search of lifespans of those engines you get from 1500 to 2000 hours, but I've never seen a boat for sale with those kind of hours. If anyone can enlighten me please do.

those hour's are for cruiser's , fish boat's and run about's . most high performance boat abuse the motor's to much to get those type of hour's . if you baby it then im sure you could get rely high hour's

My little brother put 1200 hrs on a pair of 420 that we built (in one year) and that was with a switch for throtles ,wide open or idel no in between,we call it the Chucky switch lol.

Most go-fast guys run them hard and rebuild them at low intervals so they don't have a catastrophic breakdown.

Yeah that's 23 hours a week for a year. Or 3.28 hours a day, every day for a year. Seems a little unrealistic...

thats also like 60000 miles at 50mph . . . . . . hmm . . . . now i know Chucky personally and know it is certainly feasible if he had an unlimited budget and i do believe he had that summer off, I dont believe his budget could have sustained the $175,000 needed for that trek though (adjusted for 2007 gas prices) lol . . . . . course everytime i here that story it also goes up by like a hundred hours. lol :drink:
