Here in the Texas heat were it regularly hits 100+ in the summer any type of tape will melt right off the fiberglass regardless how well you clean it or sand it.Its resin or 5200 if you want it to last.
My transducer module which weighs a few pounds is mounted inside my console and a vertical wall with 4 one inch squares of 3M dual Lock. The boat gets beat up pretty bad on rough days fishing offshore and temps inside the console are over 140 degrees when its in the Florida sun with the full black cover over the boat. Its been mounted there for 5 years now and never come loose yet removable if I need to service it. We used to use the same stuff to mount MSD boxes on race bikes for ease of swapping parts. I have never had the stuff fail and the adhesive side is very strong. |
I agree on the 42 or 5200 as for it getting on the lights, just tape the lights up first then apply, stick em, then after it starts to tack pull the tape...

Dual sided carpet tape at Home Depot sticks to anything I've tried applying it to, and HARD. It's a mfer to get off though...

Ended up using 3m acrylic tape for trim, worked great after sanding/cleaning and using the adhesion enhancer. That stuff works wonders, I got it on my fingers while wiping it on, and if I even touched the sticky part of the tape look out.

I did apretty good bit of research when putting mirrors on the bottom of my hatch, you can not pull it off with out breaking the mirror. The tape is thicker and conforms to the rougher surfaces better..045-inch-thick black tape with red cover.

Just about any 3m tape will work, the strongest is called VHB, very high bond. I used it to attach the aluminum side walls on a motorhome....it dont come loose
kinda pricey |
