I ask because my thought is you can see if your blowing pressure if you mount on the side of the boat. There is no way to tell if its coming out of the arse end.

I have pressure relief valves (I have Bravo Drives with low water pick-ups). The boat was plumbed to dump on the sides, exactly due to the reason you cite, so you can see when the valve is open and it is working. I had a pressure relief valve last summer stop, and I blew a recirculation hose apart, had it replaced the same day (the hose), and blew that apart too. The shame of it all is all I had to do is look back down the side of the hull as I was running, but I became complacent.

I had Bob Wallace at Offshore Performance (here in souht Jersey), replumb and replace both pressure relief valves.

The two outlets that you see one is for the bilge pump, and the other outlet is for the pressure relief valve. Twin engine boat, each side is plumbed identically (understandably).
