454 supercharged Build

Here is the deal. I've got a 454 block and crank, and I wanna build a 550-650+ supercharged engine. I know there are alot of threads on 454s but I haven't seen any on supercharging. Maybe im looking in the wrong place. AnywAy, here is what I'm thinking:

1, Stock block
2. H beam rods
3. Forged crank
4. 8-71 blower
5. Roller Cam/ lifters (size needed)
6. Aluminum Heads (size needed)
7. Superchiller (optional. Do I need?)
8) 9:1 on piston ratio.

Your thoughts and comments are needed to help put the right combination together.

Im partial to AFR heads. They are generally the best flowing head out there out of the box.

Have the camshaft custom ground by somebody who knows what they are doing, you want something with a wide lobe separation around ~114*

if you can get the superchiller its going to help a lot with keeping temps down since these blowers really put out the heat.

compression ratio is good
steel crank & h beams are good
the factory forged cranks are not as strong as the some of the aftermarket ones you can buy today due to a different forging process which makes them stronger

Thanks for the knowledge. Any ideas of who we could source that Camshaft from?

Bob can set you up with a matched cam and heads to meet your goals.

HEad Selection

Looking at AFR HEads. 335CC ? Calling them up today to figure out the right selection.

why 9 to 1 SCR? If you're gonna run a blower, drop it to 8.2 to 8.4 and let the blower do the work.

Too big for a 454. The CNC 315cc would be better choice.

Hey buddy, hows it going? With an 8-71 you'll be way over 650 HP. We got 735 with mildly ported LS7 heads and a 6-71 in my old Top Gun. I can e-mail you the dyno sheet if you'd like. For the aluminum heads, check to see if they have coated water passages like the Edelbrocks do. The Edelbrocks are a great deal and for the very reasonable amount of horsepower you want, you may want to consider them. I believe the Edelbrocks come with Inconel exhaust valves as well.

Specs

Doing good Barry. Ok tell me a few things.

1). Who did you go with for pistons
2). Did you use the stock crank or an aftermarket
3). Did you run a intercooler
4. Was the block stock or punched/stroked

I assume that the edelbrock heads are the performer rpm or the E-CNC

Email me the dyne sheets please. [email protected]

Thanks

make sure on your pistons you get a dished style that has the dish look like a "D". That will give you a better quench and allow the engine to run better and be less likely to detonate.
