Sunsation Aggressor Engine build finished! Pics.
548CI. dyno torque 674.3 at 4700RPM. HP 651.6 at 5800RPM. We could have milked some more power, but we decided to keep it at a safe 33' timing and we didnt lean it out very much. Major thanks to Bob at marine Kinetics. He helped me build this over the phone. Sold me all the parts and helped me decide what to buy. He was right on the money with what he told me to expect as far as power. I could have never got it done on my own.

Be very careful with that much power in a 25 Aggressor. There was bad accident with one with big power several years back.

Just curious, can you divulge any information on the cam you used, In the middle of the same project myself.

Ive heard about that. Im going to get a 288 next season. This is just too much for a 25 aggressor. |
Sick,
The engine looks great. Let us know how fast you are running. I just repowered my 24' Race Sunsation, 606 Lock'd Up Bandit. I think this is the crash Griff is talking about: http://youtube.com/watch?v=SUf8RCCC_Mc Link fixed |

Sick,
I'm guessing/speculating: when the boat became airborn, the throttles were pulled back so much that when the prop hit the water it caused ALOT of drag, forcing the bow down, bow steering hard to the left (port). I think (my opinion) if they stayed a bit into the throttle, they wouldn't have bow steered. From racing experience, the natural reaction when getting too much air is to pull back-sometimes to the extreme. I'd like to hear what others think?? By the way-the boat was still racing OPA a couple of years ago-I heard it was being rerigged for racing. Bob |
