Getting the fitting off the Oil Filter Adapter
Just making sure that the threading on the fitting for the oil filter adapter is standard (counter clockwise) #4 in pic. Of course the largest socket I have is 1 1/4" and it looks like 1 3/8". Since I'm replacing the adapter I clamped it down in a vice, but cannot get the fitting to break loose. I'm using a 15" pipe wrench and it's not budging. What about heating the oil adapter? Any suggesting?

I drove down to Sears because I needed a 1 15/16" socket, while I was going in the door I saw to mechanics talking even though the shop was closed for an hour, I asked them to if they could try to take it off, they used a 3/8" impact wrench, came off in 10 seconds. I slipped him a $20 and came back, put it on the new adapter and placed everything back on the engine. Best $20 I ever spent!!!
