Proves the effort it takes to make a turbo ('s) work on water.
They are my favorite power adder but w/o a 5 speed gear box or a loose converter you better be on your "A" game.
To do it w/a 3.0 liter motor is flat mind boggling to me.
I was a hard core follower of Porsche back in it's GTP days and of switching from single to dual turbo's.
This project proves the issues of making it work on a boat. I know it's been done before but normally dual turbo's w/lot's of cu.in's.
Kinda like the argument every couple yrs from the bike/outboard guys. "I'm gonna mount a Hyabusa motor to/a 2.5 mid section and set the world on fire." Yeah, take a motor that starts making power @ 6K+ RPM, bolt on a 28" wheel and jam it in gear at 700 RPM.
Let me know how that works for you ;)
Way cool project my friend. Keep up the work.

Hey Guys...just wanted to say thanks again for the great comments and support...it definitely has been tuff....I chased a cutting out issue for about the last year and half....obviously couldnt turn to get answers from anyone in the boating community cause no one had any idea on my project....from a 3.0L turbocharged engine in a pretty big 25 Eliminator daytona and running on E85!! It was like WTF is that?? Finally put the boat down from last august and went thru the hole thing....rewired thye hole engine completely, chnaged ECU's and complete engine harness...modified the Main Dampener to work with a MSD crank trigger set up, and modified the pick up in the gas tank and went to the biggest Weldon electric fuel pump....And now were finally getting somewhere...Also regarding the drive...everyone thought that the 3in high set back box from Imco wasnt going to work either!!

I will keep everyone posted on progress...I tore down the hole exhaust side to build a Water cooled Exhaust header and new Water cooled external wastegate assembly...Should be back up and running in about 4 weeks were we plan on going to LOTO to see what it can do...already have a house rented.....

Heres another video from back in january of 2010...It seems like we ran ok...but its when we had our cutting out issues and it was hit or miss when the boat would run ok...very frustrating....

Great vid man.. I instantly knew what engine it was going to be after the car you showed up in lol, it's kinda hard to even mistake the sound.. Have you considered making a cap for the airator that is adjustable on the move, so once you reach top speed, you can slowly close the hole off, so it can hook harder?? Might sound stupid, but could work..

Wouldnt make a difference. Once you are up on plane, the top half of the prop is out of the water anyway.

@Fenderjack....Like Philm said...it wont make a difference...that part of the airator is out of the water once the boat gets on plane and starts going...

Thanks,
Brendan

Very, very cool rig. My hats off to you for doing something different. Those 3.0 Toyota have a reputation of being able to put out some big power.

Again, very cool!!! :ernaehrung004:
