I was told the same thing about the Baja molds that were left behind when Fountain took over Baja, but according to Doug Smith of Checkmate this is a new hull. That makes sense, as Liberty-owned Baja also has come out with a 26' Baja. If I am not mistaken, they used the original tooling, with modifications to the deck and other features, for that one.

Matt is correct. The 26 Outlaw Deck, Hull, Liner tooling designed by Baja Marine is used by Liberty to produce their 2012 version of that same model. I worked for Doug Smith when he was the owner of Baja Boats, and president of Baja Marine under Sea Ray ownership. I also continued to work for Baja Marine until it closed in Ohio in 2008. Doug Smith has the knowledge, and employs much of the same talent that made both Baja, and Checkmate a success. The new 26 Convincer hull tooling is brand new, and now I have been excited to see the new deck design take shape. It's looking good!
