Default Clarion speaker covers stuck

I'm trying to replace the speakers on my Hammer and the Clarion speaker covers are stuck. I'm pretty sure you're supposed to just twist them a little bit and they should come off, but not mine. I've actually pulled HARD and i can't get them off. I don't want to break the piece the speakers screw on to. I guess all the salt and gunk after 13 years of boating makes it stick? I dunno...any help?

You take out the screws and pull the whole thing out.

The screws out from the opposite side? As in, inside the hull?

If you can't see the screws then it's not the one piece.
