Default 38 top gun vs. 42 lightning

What are your opinions on the overall handling between the lightning and the top gun-looking at both and would like to get some honest opinions, Also-do you think now that reggie is not with fountain anymore, do you think the quality or anything will change with there product??? thanks

If you were comparing a 39 Unlimted with a full stagger to a 42 Fountain with a full stagger you would have a discussion, but hands down a 42 Fountain with a full stagger is going to handle and fly better than a 38 side-by-side.

This is gonna be good. Another fountain vs. Cig thread.

My advice, go for a ride in both boats yourself. Both boats are very capable, and well built.

And why don't you care for fountains? Is it because you have been spoiled by the superior quality and performance of powerquest?

It always amazes me how many people bash and hate fountains. I had someone who I know, this weekend, tell me how i would be better off with a different brand, as anything would be better than a fountain. And this came from someone who had their boat repoed, and is boatless.

Go for a ride in a nicely powered 42 stagger lightning, in some rough water and run hard. Tell me if it feels 3' shorter than a 38 top gun.

My buddy who owns a cigarette, said the only reason you see a lot of fountains is because Reggie flooded the market. Umm, ok. Sure.

The fountain being shorter is such total BS.... @ my buddies shop a 38 top gun was parked next to his 42 fountain!!! The cig was noticeably taller & deeper yes!!! NOTICABLY SHORTER, H*LL YES!!!! wish people would stop getting off on the beak & swim deck..... They are both GREAT... GREAT.... boats!!!!
