Looking forward to this, I have been real shy about recommending XR gears in the past few years. This will put some confidence back into the Bravo drive.
I pulled my set of old XR gears out of my drive with 300+hrs on the driven gear and 275hrs or so on the pinion gear, they still have life left in them.
It will be exciting to have gears that live up to the old days standards! Keep the news coming Smitty!!

The new gears sound great but I fear it will stress everything else in the upper that is weak. I popped 3 drives when I bumped my 575's to 700's. Cone clutch failure, shaft failure and total devastation including a destroyed case and sheared top bolts. (first pic)
I don't want to be a downer but there are serious design issues with the whole Bravo drive which is why I opted to go with the IMCO SCX uppers. They are 50% bigger all over than the XR's. (second pic....duck is not part of the package!)

I have looked closely at the excellent SCX upper.

Most guys are losing an easy 5 and most much more speed with them.

The huge gears are harder to turn.

No I do not build drives. But I can recommend a few very skilled guys if you need a reference.

Lets say that i had your guy set up my drives with your gears,,if the gears failed with my wimpy 650hp and destroyed the case and other components would that stuff be covered in the warranty of the gears failing and taking out the rest of the parts?

Probably not going to have any gears available for purchase until after Spring 2012.

As far as a warranty goes, we have decided to officially not offer one, much like Imco and others. There are too many things we cannot control, so hence the decision to not offer one.

All I can say is that it will be a better product than what is currently available from Merc right now.
