Any reason to not buy a 42ss Sonic? Offer Accepted
On to survey and sea trial!
:evilb: Am getting close to making an offer on a 1995 Sonic 42ss. Will have the boat surveyed of course before finalizing purchase. I am not looking to go 100mph, boat has twin carb'd HP 500s (one rebuilt last year and one had valves and springs done ~40 hours ago). Love the size of the cabin and the head room. Any reason not to buy? Thanks Jim |
Is your tow vehicle rated to pull it?

I have to tell you I like the boat. I was casually looking for one when I found my Cig. I boat mostly with my wife so I like the side-by-side helm and I am used to boating at night so I would use the arch and put radar up there. Plenty of room in the engine room - add a genny if you want - and you can remove the arch if you want a more modern look. Lots of room below with a real head, fridge and water, clearance, and room to stretch out. I did notice on one I looked at that the framework on the outside seating was rotting (wood) so that is something to look at. I do also seem to remember it as being a heavy boat so bravos will take a beating and, as mentioned, it will be a handful to tow.
Good luck and let us know what you do (send pictures if you buy). |
A 42 with twin 500's will probably run low 60's. Thats reason enough for me to stay away.

Baot will run 68 most of the time. I have been in one that would touch 71 now and then. Probbaly going with the tide.

I would chose a 42! some speed, some more comfort... go!
