Yates said the cause of the accident was under investigation. The craft was some type of speedboat with three large outboard motors

Why not, SOME TYPE OF FISH BOAT. WTF

Update from the local paper:
"Homosassa businessman dies Sunday in boat accident A man identified as Rob Phillips, owner of Eagle Buick GMC Inc. in Homosassa, died Sunday afternoon in a boating accident in the Homosassa River that involved eight other people.
Sometime around 4 p.m., the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office responded to the incident near Marker 19. A command center was set up at River Haven Marina off Halls River Road.
Heather Yates, spokeswoman for the sheriff’s office, said one man, aged between 45 and 47 years, had died."

Ya, I was bbq'ing at the time I caught it on the news and all I heard was "speed boat flips..."

Either way, a horrible tragedy. :(

Condolences to the family and friends of Ron Phillips and Prayers to those who were injured for a speedy recovery.

Not knocking the absoulte horror of this.

however living near and going to that area often it just seems there might be more to this. That area is very low speed and very calm 98% of the time.
