110 miles off of Ft. Pierce to Walkers Cay in the Bahamas looking for fuel.

Bob is the king. Met him and Expat (here on OSO) with Predator in the BVI's during the Virgin Island Poker run this past May. He knows how to do it.

We go 60+ miles offshore in my 23' single engine Fountain CC pretty often. We go at least 15 miles every time and usually 30-40 off. We run about 90 miles average a day round trip I would think.
It is kind of funny for some of us to see what a lot of you guys consider "offshore" on a site called OSO. I would say anything inside 20 miles is "nearshore".
Hmmm....maybe I should start www.nearshoremostly.com :)

I love being out deep. The water gets bluer and you never know what will swim up to the boat.

I found it funny that guys on this site were giving fishermen who use waverunners crap for fishing offshore with them, but those guys run them 50+ miles out to fish wish is probably 40 miles farther than *most* posters on this site.

Running past Cuba to get to Cancun from Key West was unreal.

Miami to Nassau, Nassau to Georgetown etc etc

And St Lucia down to Bequia and then back up all the way past Martinique, Domenica, Guadaloupe, Montserrat, St Kitts (an overnight stay) and then on to St Maarten after breakfast....was pretty unbelievable too....
Not to mention the flying fish at eye level flying/swimming alongside the boat....A whale breaching off our bow, a turtle the size of a VW
Passing the occasional cruise ship was pretty neat as well....

85 miles from shore in a 20' proline.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think the term offshore is to be taken quite so literally...

I think the intent of the term offshore is to imply that these boats are generally run in the open ocean. I don't think distance from the shore is a factor. By this definition it means that they aren't generally run/raced/operated in rivers or lakes. That's just my opinion. I could be wrong tho.

Well it's true! (by less than a minute, but did beat him) I still enjoy giving Scism a good ribbing about it!

Ship Island is 15 miles out, then went another 5,never saw over 35ft deep either.Nothing to go to out past there:drink:

I've always wanted to check out San Miguel Island, but only have a sailboat available to me for the blue water excursions, so it takes quite a bit of time to get there.

I don't think you'll be calling Sea Tow from 1000 miles from shore. :-)
