Feast or famine. We were at lake Travis in '02 when it was rising 6" an hour.

Travis is a flood control lake for the others down river.

Lake Norman is about 5' down right now. I guess things could be worse.

It's down 50' right now

...But I've lived in Austin for 30 years and I've seen the lake like that many times -- worse in fact. It's definitely been lower before.

Thanks for that insight. There are some greenie whackos out there in the media trying to portray it as the end of the world.

Record low for Travis was in the 50's @ 615. It's at 630 right now. The level fluctuates a lot but it's particularly bad right now. Evidently they are going to build some more dams down river to hold water for the rice farmers, hopefully that should prevent it from getting this bad in the future.

This is California's fastest filling and draining lake.

It can go from completely dry to completely full in a matter of months.
Im hoping my Texan friends get some relief soon.

We had one little 5min shower late last month and one last week that lasted almost a full hour. Since then we've had no rain at all. Before that almost no rain since January.

I haven't seen Lake Lewisville just north of Dallas but I'm sure the docks at Sneaky Pete's are on the ground.

Hope they take time to clean up the garbage while the level is low. I cant imagine what the bottom of Lake Erie would look like.

I spent some time at Lake Travis in the late 80's. It looks like there is a LOT of high-end real estate there that doesn't seem to be what it used to be.

I'll bet that it's a loooong climb up to Carlos 'n' Charlies now...
