Recommended oil for Carb. 454 mag

Can anyone recommend a good oil to use for my early 90's 454 mag? Other than the mercruiser 25-40w.

straight 40 valvoline racing oil

we have a Merc service rep in our group and this is what he says as well. I have also been told that the Merc stuff is really the best to run. Gotta watch what oil you use these days so that it has enough zink for non roller cams (at least thats also what I have been told)
