expected speed increase with 150-200 hp
I have one more question- I am looking for an average mph increase that I can expect to see with an additional 200 or so hp. I am comparing a merc 600 sc motor and a KE 675 motor that on the dyno was 700 plus hp. Assuming all other factors are equal. THANKS

Check out BAM's speed calculator. One of our links.

need more info...what hull, how fast is it now, etc:p

It is the 37 Active Thunder AVH. It was running a solid 95 on gps with merc 600 sc's. I am trying to back into my rough speed expected with my KE 675's.

Is this your new baby?
Thunder- keep weather conditions in mind . I have noticed 2-3 mph depending on heat and humidity. Also tides and wind. Are the KE's intercooled? If not, you may not be hitting the dyno'd hp while running outside in the SE's heat. Saltwater a little faster than fresh. My boat runs the same speed as one with 575's when it's hot outside.
Hope you hit that bumble bee -- !00 Maximus |
My experience has shown almost a wall at about 92-95mph
in most V bottoms. Getting from 95 to 100 often requires more than just increases in HP, drag becomes your biggest problem, ie X dimension ect. Getting from 100 to 105 all things become exponential. Go for it but be ready for some real disappointments. JD |

I would guess that with 150 more you would gain about 10 and with 200 you would gain about 13.
