My first boat was a CVX-16 with a 150 Johnson. I've since gotten into Hydrostreams which are much faster hulls but I've always loved the design of the older Glastron Carlsons.

You'll probably see me hanging around the site more since I will undoubtably need help and advice with this boat. I've always been more of an outboard guy.

Your boat has brought back some good memories and also a mystery.Art had intended to intro the 27 as a 1980 model,but Glastron execs were so excited about the boat that it was introduced a year early as a 1979,available only in brown metalflake.I bought the first one in the southeast as a dealer,supposedly #3.But your 1978 is blue flake,only offered by Carlson in 1977 and 1978 on smaller models,never later,so 1978 makes sense,but I can find no record of a 1978,which you obviously have.That would make it quite rare,possibly hull #1,or a prototype? Would be interested in the hull#.This is the only blue flake 27 I am aware of and is quite interesting.The May 1979 issue of Powerboat mag had a bown boat on the cover when it awarded it Boat of the Year.

Don't want to bust your bubble on your clean find, but that boat is not the boat to take on big water. Anything over 2' and you will get it handed to you. The boat is ass heavy with twins and unbalanced. Just don't expect too much out of it and enjoy it for what it is, a clean older boat that you got a deaL on. Remember, you have'nt even ridden in the boat yet, so don't get too excited jus to be let down if it does'nt perform to your expectations. Good luck.

I'll send you the HIN tomorrow. I have all the papers at my office. I thought it was strange as well. This is the only blue flake boat I have seen. I've seen a couple others that were solid blue and white. I have no idea what the production numbers are but I haven't seen very many.
