I didn't have that kind of zoom, but it looked like it just popped up like a cork afterward. I was told that one of the engine hatches came off, and the winsheild had a large hole punched in it. The boat was riding a little low when towed in, but was still afloat.

The Design of the Canopy is excellent too, It caught my eye the Instant I saw the boat live.

Yet another example of how under-engineered today's canopies are. If anything, they seem to give a false sense of security...

Actually it's not about how under-engineereed something is built Today or Yesterday but engineered in general. Remember the Apache is Michael Peters "first" and innovative design, at the time he pulled all the stops and the Canopy has a real small (frontal) area, therefore being really safe.
I think many canopydesigners/builders should take notice it doesn't look like an eggshell.
