Sounds like you identified the block casting #? As far as what's inside, that's another story, who the hell knows.

There isn't more information on the reman tag, like who did it?

Sounds like for sure the engine's been out, maybe somebody painted it blue who knows. I just had my 502 redone and it was black, then red, then black again, but had all the original parts in the lower end that would have been in an early 90's marine 502. (i.e. JE700 pistons 502 rods etc)

That tag is probably your only hope of sorting out whats inside, I don't claim to know how a re-manufacturer tags their engines -- try posting a picture of it.

Maybe someone can chime in with more information -- the casting # you posted was on the back of the block above the "transmission" correct? You can also try to get the casting # of the cylinder heads.

1401544 1975-87 454 4.250 4 bolt mains (casting number mayalso be 14015445)

numbers came from the back of the motor

You can also get the # off the intake manifold, and you can look up to see if you have the rectangle port or oval port, that would be good to know -- this assumes the intake matches the heads properly.

Good Luck!

If it comes with a 1000 gallons of gas I'll take! Well as long as it's free too :)
