6 hours to clean/rebuild carbs??? NEVER heard or seen that in my life, personally have done dozens and and even the worst ones are a couple of hours......

Sorry to say you got taken but not much you can do about it IMO other then to find another shop or learn to do it yourself....

Did they give you an estimate? I think that would be a requirement for mechinic work. Tell them to take their parts off and you will take your business else where.

You keep saying that you had the carbs "cleaned". If they were removed & disassembled then they were rebuilt. To r&r and rebuild 2 carbs is not cheap. Then there was the other work you mentioned and a water test? I don't think you were over-charged that bad. If they just needed cleaning, do it yourself with carb cleaner and compressed air.

Exactly I was going to say this but didn't want to repeat someone such as yourself....

Flat rate is how a lot of the marinas and service centers work...a good tech can make money on flat rate a bad one starves!!!!
