I'm new to offshore only, this will be my first post so go easy on me... I just bought a 1990 IMP and noticed that the props rotate outward. I was lead to believe that for performance boats the rotation should be to the center of the boat. does it make any difference? Any help would be great.

Probably 80-90% of boats spin the props outward. Spinning them in gives more bow lift and sometimes a couple mph's on the top end. Spinning in can reduce handling and make docking harder.

Well. it sort of depends on your setup. Toe in/out of the drives, drive height, prop it self ect.

I'd suggest you swap them around and see what happens. If you find spinning in better to your liking, switch the shifter cables in the controls, so you won't have to go "in reverse" so to speak to go forward.

Agreed, leave it alone. Spinning in will make handling weird and backing up useless. All to gain MAYBE one MPH.

You should measure your drives to make sure they are in line. Measure on nose and center of prop shaft. Some people say they should be toed in a 1/4 inch.

Handling and speed is dependant on the design of your hull.

Docking is always worse spinning in regardless of your hull.

For an IMP, I would suggest spinning them out.
