It was my understanding that the new 8.2 HO is not that far removed from the 525 efi. Wait till someone replaces or finds a way to tune the factory ecu, eliminate the cats and swap out the cam.....

Wink

Some rumors and coments do not have this new catalyst engine performing as planned. Lets hope we get some more feedback from actual high performance boats like this one.

Think back on how the 1970-1975 cars where with the first new emissions systems, especially performance results.

As for modifying these engines for more power. I would forget about that for a while? These new catalyst controlled OBD IIIM engines have three year warranties on the emissions systems and engine and cannot be touched during that period - PERIOD! As for who as a manufacturer aftermarket or otherwise wants to take on the laws and EPA-State Emissions will be a big issue.

My call, if you buy a boat with these engines, just sort of give up for now on any modifications for more power and live with the original performance and hoped for Reliability??

Want real big performance then order the Mercury Racing, or Ilmor engines for superior performance.

Very Nice boat and I sincerly hope the new owner gets a nice reliable package with reasonable performance, especially when you consider the healthy price tag.

Best Regards,
Ray @ Raylar

Wear? Our 2!! 300 verados were almost 60 K after you buy all the rigging controls, guages and crap that it takes to run them. You are talking about just the engines I am guessing?

I'll take 2 at that price! I'm afraid you're a little off base with that upgrade cost, that's just a little above the Bravo X to XR upgrade costs.

Ho pricing is motor only, the other prices are not Oem prices, just retail

If you own a boat like that and run it out of gas, you should not be boating anyway........
