Fire at Grove Harbour Marina...

For those who do FPC poker runs Grove Harbour is the first card stop......

Four mega-yachts, worth millions, went up in flames early Saturday morning in Grove Harbour Marina in Coconut Grove, and fire officials are investigating whether foul play is involved.

Two people were seen fleeing the scene about 6:30 a.m., when the first yacht, a 65-footer, began burning in slip one, according to Lt. Ignatius Carroll, spokesman for Miami Fire Rescue. It's not clear, however, whether the two people were part of the yacht's crew, simply running from the flames, Carroll said.

The blaze then continued to consume neighboring yachts, one larger than the next. A 72-footer, moored in slip one, began burning, and as firefighters continued to douse those two boats, a third vessel also began to catch fire. As a fourth yacht, an 88-footer owned by a coffee-company magnate, started to smoke. A tow boat came to its rescue, pulling it out into the harbor, Carroll said.

About 40 firefighters battled the blazes before they were brought under control about 9 a.m. One person who was on the first yacht was transported to a local hospital with burns, but they were not serious, Carroll said. The other vessels were not occupied.

Miami-Dade firefighters also responded from Haulover, Carroll said.

"We're looking at people, questioning several, but there's no telling what direction to go as far as the fire yet,'' said Carroll, adding that there were cameras on the docks which are being reviewed.

That's heavy stuff. Hope all works out for the owners, as well as Alan and his crew at Grove.
