Sweet boats for sure. Single 377? Laughable...

"Financing a boat, much less a go-fast model that costs more than $100,000—and you won’t find a new twin-engine model for less than that—remains an uphill battle."
And here lies the problem for the boating industry. To get one that will actually get on plane, you are going to pay $169k for an entry level boat. I love performance boating, but the industry has some real problems and is becoming an exclusive market. I actually miss the days when "everyone had a boat" Our boats are basically pretty simple when compared to cars, very simple. Seems to me that someone could be building these "entry level boats" for a lot less. So who is going to be the first to bring a 42 fountain with 500hps to China and hire a factory to replicate it? Bet we could sell them for $49,999 :) |
If you could find a 24ft with a 350hp single in it for 35K, how many young guys would be getting into powerboats?? How about a 27ft for under 50K, because you can get a brand new base 'vette for that!! If someone can build those 2 boats half decently and make a few $$ profit... they're going to make a mint. My $.02

I for one think this is great. Tony and John have the right idea, keep the cost down, and sell boats. How many threads have we seen in the last year, on new Spectre,Sonic, and Frisini builds.Quite a few. They are building a variety of models, and moving them.Period. Boats are expensive, always have been, always will. If you want a brand new boat, your going to have to pay. How is the used market going to look in 2-3 years?Pretty bad.If you want a 3-4 year old boat in say 2014,whats going to be out there? Not much. I wish these guys continued success. BTW how is the 39 Hypersonic w/700's coming?

Still don't like it, volume would lower prices considerably. And yes boats have always been expensive, but the inflation is way off the charts. Were house prices 10 times less in the late 80's? |
single 377 in a 31 Sonic????
I thought a 26 with a single small block was under powered... |
seems like with 1 motor it would be considered a trawler

We owned a 32 Envision with single 500 EFI from 2003 to 2005. This boat actually did very well, took a bit to get on plane, but once up & running the single did fine in acceleration. Boat would top out in the middle to upper 50's which wasn't bad. With this being said, a single 377 would have been an absolute drag.....the minimum power option for this 31 should be a single 8.2 HO (430 HP) IMO. Great for entry level.
