I got a quote a little less than that thru dealer I know. I think it's a great package at 555 hp, 460lbs and a 5 year warranty, looks cool also

So is that with cast or forged internals?

Please post a link to where you can buy this engine for $5000 less then the three or four other manufacturers selling this package. Originalronza what's the name of the dealer that quoted you an even cheaper price? I'll buy a couple right now. Also, the 460lbs is for the base long block without marine accessories..

Mastercraft has used ILMOR engines exclusively for about a year now. Ilmor offers a non-supercharged 522 horsepower engine with far better internals:

In 3 to 6 months as far as major OEM marine engines Mercruiser / Mercury Racing & Ilmor will be the only one's left offering Big Blocks everyone else either has all LS motors or at least one LS motor to replace their big block offering.

The weight as I was told by Indmar was 467 lbs for the base like the pic in the GM performance website as I called it a full long block - the block, intake manifold and heads are aluminum.

we know you work for penke and are a cheerleader but i worry about the cost of anything ilmor. the cost of the cadilac motor for these boats is relatibvely inexpensive. i belive they are great for what they are, small, lightweight, and powerful but most of all they are afforadable which is the key in todays world

Ilmor makes a great motor also, but is twice the price. The indmar has a std 3 year warranty and a 5 year they offer, that is unheard of in marine power with 555 hp. It is a proven power plant being used in Cadillacs sts, camaro,s and vettes. Less weight than 1 bbc.

If I recall correctly I think the reason for the cast pistons was all the complaints on the auto side about the piston slap being forged aluminun years ago. After the motor was fully warmed up and the piston expanded from the heat the slap went away on most of them but not all. A cold motor the piston slap was pretty darn loud. Again I think the cast piston took care of the slap but not 100% 4 sure.

He can get sick deals! He can also get 525/XR packages for only $2k more than a 502HO/X package.
