Biggest I have seen were 55-60'ers in the Gulf of Alaska. On board a 22kt container ship, we were basically full ahead into the seas for 24 hours and wound up losing 75miles. I have video of the anemometer pegged at 99mph. It was not fun.
I couldnt imagine trying to land on board it in that kind of weather.

And I thought 10 footers in a 16' foot ski boat was a big deal. Pretty scary when you can't see over the tops of the waves. I only had to go 2 miles to get to a harbor, good thing, I broke every motor mount in my outboard and shook the screws loose holding the throttle cable. Felt like I was on my dirt bike riding moving whoop-dee-doos. I have a real respect for weather and water.
