I have an idea already. My synch on the fairing has never worked, I just bought a small bulkhead mount compass that will fit in that hole. Now I just have to figure out how to make a decent looking mount to put the gps in where the compass currently sits. Something to bring the angle up some so I can see it. I really dont want it on a swivel mount with cables hanging out.

I use my compass mostly to see if the boat is listing to one side or the other. Easy way to make sure your tabs are adjusted right and make sure your boat is not leaning to one side or the other. Jeff Wurl

Can you just fit a GPS where the sync is?
The Garmin 3205 is 4.7"H. 5" Screen.

Take a look at a Livorsi In-Dash compass. Should fit right where your Sync is now.

Thanks for this info. I just found the template for this unit and am going to see if it will fit. They are still available on ebay so maybe I can make it work, save me a lot of fabbing.

Just did some checking on Garmin site, not a lot of description due to being discontinued but it looks like you need a remote antenna with this unit. They are kind of pricey and big/ugly.

I went the other way......took the GPS off and kept the compass on the top of the dash. GPS always slowed down the boat. I always have an iPhone and and iPad with me anyway.
