GM Truck Owners

If you have a newer style General Motors Truck with “Day Time Running Lights” start it up and walk to the front and see if one of the lights is burned out. I can’t believe how many trucks I see on a daily basis with one out. Just want to take a poll of OSO members to see if there are any. Could this be a possible defect?
Start looking, it will drive you crazy!

Stock bulbs OR aftermarket bulbs, clear OR amber (my preference) ALL burn out within 7 or 8 months. The fixture itself seems to hold too much heat inside it.

The only saving grace is that they are easy to replace and you don't need tools to replace them (pull the pins and yank the whole light out).

Just press the dome/overide button 5 times and it will cut them off.

All 4 of my trucks are ok, 99,2000,2001, and 2002 Gms, I must be lucky:D

Changed to amber when they new and haven't had a problem since. '00,'01. Guess I got lucky too :)

GM has issued a service bulletin regarding this. They advise replacing both bulbs with a new part number of { I believe} 1999482. {may be 1999982} Short number was like a 3157kx and now is a 4157kx. Not positive of the letters at the end of the short number, pull one of your bulbs to double check. They supposedly burn for a much longer time. Hope this helps.

Two of my four trucks have a light out. It is very annoying.
