Upgrade Reasoning

What's the best excuse you have used to legitimize an boat purchase or upgrade to a spouse or significant other?? :grinser010:

Told the most recent one if she gets in the way of my boat or boating activities she can and will be replaced. It's easy when you make it sound like its their decision. :evilb:

How many times have you been divorced? :party-smiley-004:

I upgraded last year and my wife is very happy. Usually if the upgrade includes a smoother ride, and better toilet facilities, most wifes are on-board. :drink:

I was able to convince mine that we needed the additional room. ;) With 2 kids and the occasional couple as passengers the Pantera wasn't quite cutting it. :evilb: :drink:

If its a couple or family activity that both of you enjoy then the process is a little simpler.

If its your TOY and she tolerates the ownership and activities by you then the best course of action is you get a bigger or better boat-she gets a new kitchen or home upgrade,or car, or jewelry, in other words -Offsetting Compensation!

Been happily married 43 years to the same beautiful women and it always worked for me, first a 21 footer, then a 28 footer, then a 36 footer, then a 50 footer!
I bought alot of homes, cars, jewelry and vacations and we had a lot of fun with all the purchases!

If Momma Ain't Happy, Ain't No One Happy!

Best Regards,

Thank goodness my wife loves boating and knew my passion before we got married!

That said:
After popping three Xr drives since bumping up the 575's to 700's (another one of those well while we have to rebuild them, might as well bump them up....), I simply told her we can spend the money in the offseason in one lump sum or we can keep rolling the dice with the Xr's.

Simple math made it make sense:
3 blown Xrs = the cost of the upgrade to the IMCO's
(add the multiple hours of idling, getting the truck & trailer, etc.)

Time is as precious a commodity as money when it comes to boating. Thankfully the IMCO's (and the boat) ran trouble free all year!
