Swim platform drainage?

I've seen swim platforms with and without small holes drilled in the bottom side of the tubes for drainage.

I would think the holes would either clog a little in time or at least be a starting point for corrosion to start damaging the powder coating or paint in those areas.

What is the proper way to build them, with drainage or sealed tight?

I believe extreme marine's are sealed tight or so I've been told by someone that bought a new one

Mine has been sealed tight since it was new from Cigarette in 1998. Well this past winter it some how got moisture inside and cracked. So now it has been drilled and tapped with small plugs. Just my .02

Both of the ones I've had were sealed. To be honest I have not seen one with holes.

Same here-- If water manages to get in there in northern climates your going to have broken tubes
drilled mine at the bottom and check every spring and Fall..

I drilled mine on the last boat I had with a platform. It froze and broke the first winter. It was never in salt though...
