The reason gas prices go up is not speculation. For every winner there is a loser. Only way that works. The reason it has gone up is because there is a lack of demand for it here since the economy is flat. What is available goes elsewhere. The U.S. is a net exporter of gas. That's right it's shipped to Mexico and other places that actually want it and are willing to pay. Which makes it more expensive here. If we could get industry fired up the demand would return and prices would go down. We would also need to start drilling, piping and doing what it takes to get it. The left is busy making this impossible through regulations and just plain horrible policy.
Sorry to rant.
I pray for the next ronald reagan to save this great nation.

I don't think so either.
My only beef is that the price got raised to $2. Everyone complained about it, but we still survived. Then it cleared $3. Same thing, a bunch of complaining, but again, we survived. Then it hit $4. We all complained once again. Once again, it dropped back down towards the $previous mark, (just as before) and now we are ok with $3. (if you can say that) It seems that each time it clears the next $1 mark, we talk about how it will effect us and such, But say it does hit $5 this summer, guess what? We will be tickled when it drops back down to above $4. Right were they want us in the beginning. And once again, we'll be tickled pink....because it's not $5
2 price hikes forward, 1 price hike back. That 1 back, is enough to keep us content.

Oh well, at least there won't be any long waits at the boat ramps this summer.

Thank You. When was the last time we built a refinery in this country? We have more Natural Gas in this country than we know what to do with, but why is the price so high? I was just at the International Builders Show last week in Orlando. Was talking with a Mississippi Power Employee. He was saying they are bringing a clean coal power plant on line and the rates are going to sky rocket in order to get their ROI back. Yet we are going to have China drill off Key West (Cuba). How many billions did we just send to Brazil to prop up George Soros company. This country is almost FUBOR!!!!

That's the problem my friend we are the 99% you have the ability to have a luxury like your boat. It's not the Rich holding you down it's the left. Nothing is free and the rich employ the masses. Oh by the way rich means the 49% that pays taxes. The left has built a society of tax free voters ,the 51%, that will never vote for anyone who might take away their fake safety net.

however by looking at the fact that 9 out of every ten vehicles here in central Texas is a
behemoth SUV or Pickup it seems like the average Joe is willing to put up the azz raping to keep driving his 15mpg battleship..

I think its crazy that this administration promotes policy that drives up the price of oil, then rails against the profits of oil companies. It seems pretty obvious, that the only way they can push their "green energy" is to drive up the cost of conventional energy, or else no one will buy it. Even at current prices oil based energy is still cheaper than any of the alternative sources. If you look at Europe, they buy and use a lot more solar wind etc, because their energy prices are a lot higher than ours. Was just talking with a person from Dow, they built a new solar shingle plant here recently, they intend for almost all the product to be sold in Europe, not cost effective for Americans. I have no beef with alt. energy WHEN it is economically viable, just isnt ready yet. Agree with most of the posts above as well, and I cant believe the "gimme" crowd still votes democrat when high energy prices hurt them the most.
