My first impression is that the 565 might be the ugliest high performance engine that I have ever seen. Whatever sexy is, that is not sexy.

"Hey open up your hatch so we can check out your engines!" Ehhh, you can go ahead and close it, please....."

+1. Hope to God no one takes that shroud off. It's really hideous underneath.

Ever owned an LS /6.2 gm powered vehicle (cough Escalade.. wish they kept the 6.0 that was a much better engine)? I am highly suspect of GM's quality/assembly of the 6.2s. Great performer but I doubt the durability especially in large numbers of marine applications. Just my preference I would rather have a 502 based engine for marine use. Will be interesting to see how they perform over the long term, starting to see more 6.2s in skiboats too.

I was talking as a replacement for the outdated 305/350/383 ..
And yes I have owned LSx engines, never had a problem with reliability.
Doubt Raylar , Ilmor and the rest would be using them if there was...

I suppose you could spruce the top up to make it look like a set of twin carbs with the loss of the shroud and some better looking spark arresters.

But yeah, as is, it looks like the two warts on Lemmy Kilmister's face (see MotorHead). No offense Lemmy!

I'm personally surprised they band-aided the Ram Jet style intake. I know this configuration has caused a lot of gripes with a lot of builders that attempt to get more power out of these motors because of it's deficiencies. Looks like a new upper with two throttle bodies bolted on top of it. Never seen that done before.

Tyler Crockett modified the 525 intake manifold similarly a few years ago and picked up a whack of hp. This is a cleaner solution though.
