Since you got it for free its not a liabilitity. But it probably takes up room, is an eye sore, or just the fact that its one more thing to worry about it.
IMO on these old boats like its not worth it. Unless you have the money to piss, because in the long run the time and money spent into the project will probably not be cost effective compared to just getting a boat in better shape. Or if you have knowledge and friends with knowledge and kind of find parts dirt cheap. Assuming little to no exterior work besides the flooring, you probably will have 10-15k min set up in engines and drives. Add flooring, carpet, interior, easily a 20 grand project if not more. For 20 grand you can a very nice performance boat probably 10 years newer.

I have a 88 Stingray Maxim 1 383 chevy, alpha drive, trailer, silent choice, last winter a branch fell on the widshield breaking it and 2 of the side glass peices. Buy some sheet metal have it powder coated black and install on the windshield frame for a race fairing look. Buff and polish hull, clean interior (sitting under a cover) since last year. and for 2K COME GET IT.and enjoy summer then blow it out in fall after you clean it up and make money. I got a new Donzi last year and didn't fool with it at all.

Sam,
I figured this thread was coming....You tore into the stinger with alot of energy and passion but Ive noticed that lately you havent really posted anything new and I know your weather back there is awesome right now....Its difficult to restore anything and it takes alot of money and committment. I saw a 1984 stinger for sale the other day for $5500 and thought to myself you will have twice that amount into your boat once its done.
Your probably wise to sell the trailer and look for something that you can use now and maybe update down the road...Try and find something with a bravo (1988 and newer) if you can....Good luck!
