Thumbs down

This loser (Lawyer) USED his little girl!!!! He has been fighting this way before his little girl could even TALK. It will be overturned anyway. I send my twins to private school. Just about the only schools left in this part of Fla. that don't teach in spanish!! They found it was easier to teach the english speaking kids to speak spanish than the spanish speaking kids english!!?? So it will not effect my family. But I can't say how PROUD I was when my 4 year old twins came home from preschool and said the Pledge of Alliance to me.

Crash didn't St. Nick come before Santa?

Catman I mark my money too!! Although I just use the pen that tells you if its counterfeit or not.

Funny thing is how many adults don't even know the words to the Pledge or for that matter the names of the Senators or Representative of the state they live in.
I think it's time to take OUR country BACK!!!!

While listening the Fox News interview Knucklehead Newdow, the one that originated the suit on the Pledge, the Fox interviewer was asking Newdow what he was doing to protect his family from retaliation and he said “well I pray - - uh hope that nothing happens to them”. If he is an atheist, who or what is he praying to?

Main Entry: 1god
Pronunciation: 'gäd also 'god
Function: noun
Etymology: Middle English, from Old English; akin to Old High German got god
Date: before 12th century
1 capitalized : the supreme or ultimate reality: as a : the Being perfect in power, wisdom, and goodness who is worshiped as creator and ruler of the universe b Christian Science : the incorporeal divine Principle ruling over all as eternal Spirit : infinite Mind
2 : a being or object believed to have more than natural attributes and powers and to require human worship; specifically : one controlling a particular aspect or part of reality
3 : a person or thing of supreme value
4 : a powerful ruler

God might be considered a generic term by some people. Most people believe in a higher power, most of those people believe in God in some form. This higher power might include the Zodiac, the BOAT GODS, biorhythms or whatever else might effect the outcome of an event outside of human input or output. Most agnostics and atheist will believe in a higher power even though they may not admit it.

My suggestion to those that have a problem with the word “God” being mentioned or printed anywhere in this country is to just back off and let the “People” of this country enjoy all the benefits and freedoms of this great land.

Isn't that the Liberal mission statement: Divided We Fall So they can start thier Socialism Society.

Funny Webster's Dictionary says:
LIBERAL open minding; generous; catholic;unbiased; (in politics) favoring democratic or progressive ideals, and freedom of religion.

Wow, can't think of to many liberals that fit that definition.

OKAY!!! I've been soooo good, but I can't take it anymore!

Here is my feeling...I can understand and respect (although disagree) with Cat and SC's feelings on NOT reciting the words..."UNDER GOD" when pledging alliegance to the country that allows them to think that god does not exist.

However, in a time of complete turmoil within this country (ie. 9/11, 17,000 people losing jobs today with MCI WorldCom, 8,000 losing jobs with Adelphia Cable, the dollar taking HUGE hits on the Currency Market, etc...) people need something to believe in. If not god, then at least the sovereignty of the United States of America.

Please notice the "little g" in god used above. This denotes whatever it is you determine to be your "god," whether it be the "Christian" God, Allah, the Tree Spirit, Science, self or anything else. My personal feeling is that Truman did not intend to mean "One Nation Under (the Christian) GOD," but, that one nation with faith and hope, believing together that the USA is the best nation in the world. What is wrong with that?

The 9th Curcuit Court hurt this country yesterday by creating one more huge rift in society at a time when we need to pull together. The greater good was put aside. That little girl has every right to not recite the words "under god" or actually the right to not recite the pledge at all. It takes no courage at all to remain silent. BUT, she DAMN WELL better stand up and respect the colors of the nation that she lives in and that my relatives DIED to protect.

I've tried to keep the above as positive as I can without giving in to the "voices" that want me to scream "WHAT IS THIS WORLD COMING TO?" It is sad to me that people who do not believe in "god" are so offended by other people who do. I fail to see where "religion" is being pushed onto anyone by reciting a vow to respect ones country. BTW, "religion" and a belief in "a god" are two completely different things...Cat you should be ashamed of yourself for making the "religion" statement. Religion is a specific system of worship or conduct such as Buddhism or Christianity. No such delegation is made with "under god."

I uphold the decision to protect this little girl's right to not repeat those words, but to throw out the Pledge as "unconstitutional" IS "ridiculous" (Dubya) and "Nuts" (Tom Daschel) as well as a few other derogatory words. When we stop teaching our children to respect our Nation and to understand the SPIRIT of the Pledge of Alleigance, we are headed to complete Anarchy. R.I.P....U.S.A.

'Nuff Said.

Todd

After much thought I turned to my dictionary and found how Webster defines "god". You will see it has MANY meanings and based on the dictionary I don't really think anyone should have any trouble with it being in the pledge. Furthermore, if you do not recite your ALLEGIANCE to this GREAT country, then you do not deserve the freedoms associated with it! PERIOD!

Here is the definition:
god 1. a. A perfect being conceived as the creator of the universe, and worshiped in monotheistic religions. b.The force, effect, or a manifestation or aspect of this being. 2. A being of supernatural powers or attributes, beliened and worshipped by a people, esp. a male deity. 3. An image of such a being. 4. One that is worshiped, idealized, or followed. 5. A very handsome man. 6. A powerful ruler or despot.
