Still $500 retail or better for a set of 8" and tweeters. I paid $130 for two sets of 6.5" components and $180 for 3 12" subs. Throw in the $200 I paid for the amps and crossovers (yea I got a good deal on used stuff) and $140 for the radio I only have $650 in my whole system.

I have heard alot of JL systems, can't say a one of them sounds better than mine, that is anywhere comparable in size.

Bump, I'm wondering about these speakers compared to the 770 and the Alpine 7" Coaxial? Any reviews would be appreciated.

I swapped out 4 of my 7.7's for 8.8's they are much better, they have a lot more bass and are a lot louder. If they fit I would use them everywhere. I also swapped the 7.7 for 8.8 in a buddy's yellowfin 24 and they really made a huge difference. No experience with the Alpine.

I will second that, I put 5" Focals up front in my MTI and I had 6.5 Wetsound in the back and those Focals blow away the wet sounds so now have to change out my rear speakers..

I don't find any "marine" speakers on Focal's site, what model are you using? Do you get them wet? I have heard great things about them, but in my boat they will get wet with salt and fresh water, and often lots of fish blood! Can they take the abuse like the JL's?

No, the focals will not take lots of water and exposure to the elements, but I'm not too worried about that for the simple reason that my boat is kept in our climate controlled building all year except when it is being used and also the fact that I would never just take the hose and rinse out the cockpit.

I am assuming you are referring to the Nortech, but what about the Intrepid that must get salty and get hosed down? do you ever fish off of it?
