Default Cockpit or full cover?

So I am looking at ways to " get in and go" a little faster on my 21 Chris Craft. During the season I keep the boat on a lift and cover after ever use, I have both a cockpit cover and a full cover. I typically use just the cockpit cover if just overnight, but throw both on if it is going to be a while between runs. What do you guys do? I know the cockpit cover is a must, but if I wax a couple of times a season and keep things clean, do need a full cover? My boat is stored indoors during the winter in Michigan, so it lives a pretty shaded life as it is. Just throwing it out there because the full cover is a b*** to put on. You'd be amazed what kind of crap collects on boats around here even overnight... Dead bugs, bird poop, pollen... Never ends, haha.

Cockpit cover for only overnight, rinse deck in the morning, and full for anything longer than overnight, is how I do it.

Keep doing what your doing. I lost the finish on my Formula 242 by not using the full cover and I would wax it every month. Acid rain will do a number on the top.

I only use cockpit cover when overnight in water. Anytime boat is out of water it gets full length. I don't know that I would put the full length over the cockpit cover...... I would think that would trap moisture between covers and could cause mold to form on the cockpit cover. And/or prevent the cockpit cover to properly breath, thus trapping moisture in the cockpit. Even if it doesn't cause issues, I see no benefit of doing it....

I usually double them up because the full cover is just one of those light silver one-size-fits all strap down deals... Pretty much just to keep the nasties of the topsides. The cockpit cover ( with its brace pole) basically supports it while it is on. I haven't had and problems yet with moisture, etc. yeah, and I did answer my own question...

Do not use the cockpit cover with the full cover. Moisture gets trapped and mold, mildew and moisture damage can/will happen. I use mine very similarly to how you do, except I never double them up. Learned a lesson that way. If your worried about the cheap full cover, buy a better one and have better protection.

Right now, I keep just the cockpit cover on when it is in the car port or at the dock. The full cover goes on during the winter or times of long non-use.

Hey Redhook98, see your from Colonial Beach... I lived on Cobb Island from 2000-2004...had a lot of fun down there. At the time I ran a little 15' 1963 Arkansas Traveler w/ a '65 100 h.p. merc that I picked up for $300 bucks. Many memories for me as it was my first boat. And it was also this northern boy's first hurricane...Isabel... That was fun

I use my cockpit cover during the year. Full cover only during winter mainly because it is SO unruly for my boat
