If you have a lot slippage or burnout during getting on plane ,there are some with #5,s that use a 1/2 inch ali plate with a offset bent ,and milled like a spacer that mount between the upper and lower .
This way the prop sits under a anti ventilation plate ,like a #3
I don,t have any pics ,and don,t know who the manufacturer is ... Ive seen it on skiraceboats that use a #5 several years ago

I know a few guys with either 4s or 5s on straight and stepped vees. For getting on plane there really isn't a difference between the bottom types. All of these boats are on boxes and the highest one has the drives a little over 1/2 inch obove the bottom of the boat. All of the boats run between 17.5 and 18 inch diameter and 5 blades. The props have all been labbed to add cup for bow lift and aid in getting on plane. To get any of these boats on plane fairly quickly requires a 4000-4500rpm burnout. The boat (43 Nortech) with the 18 diameter and the props even with bottom can coax his out around 3500 rpm but it takes a bit to get up.
