Default Penzoil marine 2 cycle synthetic oil

I went to super wal mart today to buy some quicksilver 2 cycle oil for my mercury 250's which is what I always use and they didn't have any. Now they have this Penzoil XLF Marine synthetic 2 cycle oil. Have you guys used this oil? Is it the same thing as the quicksilver premium plus 2 cycle oil? The engine manual on my mercury 250's says to only use quicksilver 2 cycle oil which is why I was asking. Also if I can use it would it matter if I mix it with th existing quicksilver 2 cycle oil already on my oil tanks?

We use the Penzoil in our performance pleasure boat. It is much cheaper than the Mercury Oil. I just bought it for around $13.00 a gallon at Sam' Club for the semi synthetic!

I have used it for years. old 96 carb merc. Never mixed it. Ran till the alarm went off. Main tank empty. Added oil. Never had any trouble. Run Merc now. 1790 hours. Must be some thing wrong with this 150 Merc. LOL. Artie

It's the Penzoil Marine XLF extended life formula synthetic blend oil. Is the quicksilver oil synthetic blend or 100% synthetic?

I run the penzoil blend for $15 at auro zone, better than the cheap sh!t, and much cheaper than merc. By the way, it will smoke less than the merc stuff too. On a stock 250 that turns 5800 max rpm, the penzoil at 50:1, or injected will last forever. BTW, not sure if you know this or not, make sure you are running the champion QL77CC plucgs in that b!tch, the NGK's foul too often in those motors. If your modded to turn more RPM's run 40:1 and remove the injection ASAP.

Premium Plus is fine, run the XLF if you like, but others say the plus is just fine.

Ryan, what would you recommend for my 300XS,, I am sick of paying $90 for 2.5 gals of premium plus........

Wal-mart has premium plus for like $26 a gallon last time I checked

I've run the synthetic blend for yrs w/zero issues and turned some of my motors 7500+ w/it.
They used to carry full synthetic and may still which I ran in my race motors for higher HP's and over 7500.
