DC on the 4th!

Ok, anybody going to power their way up the Potomac on the 4th for the Firework? If you are, look for the 20ft RED Stingray. I know, it gets alittle crazy but it should be any worse than the automotive traffic and security on land.

Tim's had a great display Saturday night and it provided for plenty of rough water to navigate in the dark afterward.

I was toying with the idea of motoring up to DC on the 4th. My starting point would be at Leesylvania near Tim's River Shore. How many miles is it up to a good viewing spot around DC? Does everyone just find a spot near shore and drop anchor?

I would say it is a 20mi trip for you at most. I am out of Ft. Belvoir so my trip is a bit shorter. We usually just set somewhere between Memorial and 14th St. bridges. It sounds like for security purposes this year we have to stay 200ft from the DC shore. NOT a problem.

After the fireworks what do most people do? Do they pull anchor and head home? Is there anywhere to dock for the night up there? Thanks for the info from the previous post.

I usually head back down river after the Georgetown peir closes and the boat traffic clears a bit. Many folks stay over above the key bride near the rocks they call three sisters.
