Default Fountain oil temperature

We have a problem with our fountain, our oil temp gauges are reading hot, so we changed the gauges and the oil temp. senders, still running hot. They are 454 mag's and water temp is 170 degrees, oil temp is over 300 degrees, oil pressure is apprx. 40#, good water pressure and both oil coolers are clear. Boat is not equipped with sea strainers. Do you have any suggestions. Thanks we really appreciate it!

First I would check the temp of the oil pan sump with an infrared temperature gun just to get an idea as to what the temp actually is. Then depending on what you find there I would start looking into coolers, strainers, new sending unit, ect. You may just have a bad sending unit.
