Sad to see this thread. I was hoping to get a ride on this boat one day. Good luck C. I hope it works out for you.

That is like comparing a '72 Mustang 6 cylinder coupe to a '68 Shelby GT500KR.

They are both mustangs and the '72 is newer......

Ah! Vectors are VERY nice boats. I know Rex Jardine (the owner), and he cuts no corners. Those boats are built from the identical hull and deck molds as mine, but have significantly different interiors, and are (I believe) solid layups. I think I know the boat you're referring to (Teague power). Typical new pricing for those boats is in the low $200k range.

In 2008, Powerboat tested the Vector V-280 with a 700 Ilmor.

The as tested price: $259,000.

Chuck,

No harm in asking what you think it worth. It is a unique boat with a great-new power/drive package. I have always like the Bat boats.

A quick Bat boat story for ya, I was at the Miami boat show in 1994 (it might have been 1995). Armada had a bat boat with the Volvo engine package and the duoprop in the water. I went on a demo ride in a 42' Fountain with triple motors and were were running by the cruise ships and along comes the Bat boat, I think Jack Haney of Fountain was driving, and I told him let's smoke that boat (the batboat).....well we never did catch him, and that was in some pretty sloppy water water for that Bat boat (waves had no effect on the 42' Fountain), and I was stunned we could not catch that Armada bat boat, in a triple engine 42' Fountain. I became a believer in the BAT boat that day.

Keep it!

Smarty - That was this exact hull (silver at the time) if it was 1994. Volvo was using it as a demonstrator for the (then) new DPX drives. The engine was a 385 hp 454 (Volvo's version of a 454Mag). When I bought the boat in 1997, it had 300 hours on it and Troy Hannon and I took it out for a final test run before re-rigging it. It ran 75 mph, and he was stunned.

Armada had two of their boats there in 1999. The black/orange one with the 525 shown below was in the water and ran about 85. The blue/red one (also shown in Baltimore) with the 390/502 was at the Convention Center. It ran in the mid-70's.

To all those who sent PM's or called: Thanks for reaching out. Let me know when you can come by for an inspection and demo. In the meantime, I'm making decent progress on the job list as weather permits. If this leads to any decent offers, so be it. If not - Oh, well - it's paid for...

This past year I have had a couple of light hearted offers to sell our V-24. A couple of weeks ago I ran 1/2 of the Shootout Poker Run om LOTO with my son (Junior in College) and it was so much fun that I am not sure that I could sell it now (unless I could find a project 28).
I guess my point is that if you want to sell it, DON"T go drive it! If you do take it out, you will probably not want to sell it! Good luck with whatever you figure out.
