if i ask myself i will not have the answer,since i don,t know,maybe mr scott will chime in and tell us why he is not doing the shootout again this year.i for 1 would love to see him run again,his operation is top notch,and always exciting to see.

This is a summary of a radio interview with Dave Scott and why he is not running. It is a copy and paste from another boating forum:

Just finished listening to the show and here is a quick summary as to why Dave is not going to run this year:

Key West incident
My Way spin out
Already broke his personal goal of 200mph
He wants the course to be shorter (3/4 mile) instead of 1 mile. He said its not worth risking holding the boat at peak speed passing the bluffs and spectators (100 yards per second). He believes the same speeds can be achieved on a shorter course and it would increase safety.
The ideal setup is to have timing lights out in the channel to get away from the bluffs. They would also be more accurate vs the radar guns.

Not long at all!

This LOTO venue certainly is the right place to do it though, not a poker run.
