They have quoted me way under that for full coverage for what they called "agreed value", I understand my boat might be worth way less than yours but it was somewhere around $1000 a year including trailer.

I'm paying Farm Bureau 182.00 per month with 500 deductable. Total replaceable value 28k.

That is very high to me considering at best can boat only 5 months a year.

Boat US has good rates, but watch their depreciation policy. For example, if you damage a drive and the drive is five years old, they will pay you for a five year old drive, not a new one.

Also, I think they don't like to insure boats that have "too much horsepower".

I've been using Boat US ever since USAA stopped writing marine policies (20 years?), 5 different boats. They're not always the cheapest, but its a good value.

In '90 I ran over something in the TN river and damn near pulled one of the prop shafts (v drives) out of the boat. Had to head the nearest marina to get hauled out as the bilge pumps were barely keeping up. 2 days later the boat was fixed and we continued our trip; one phone call and they took care of everything. My rates stayed the same.

The one time I used their on water towing service they were johnny on the spot as well.

So, I'd recommend them. . As someone mentioned though, they don't do fast boats.

I had them for years with express cruisers and a ski boat.......they are awesome and like stated they take care of you when you do have a problem. As for depreciated value of an old component, that is true of most companies but you can pay a little extra (forgot what it's called) and they will replace a 20 yr old motor with new if needed. They also do not insure true "performance boats" which is the only reason I left them. When they do insure hi-perf boats they are simply brokering the policy to someone else and charging you for the service......don't bother in that case (prices will be obviously high when this happens).
