Kill switch not working
With all this lanyard talk. I decided to test mine today. I wear it but in 10 years never tested it. So when I pulled it only one engine died ! So what do I look for?? It's a bone stock 92 35 fountain carb 502

not sure if it is this way with boats but dont some kill systems work by grounding out the ignition system or some part of it? If so i would guess theres a loose or broken connection in that circuit.

Unless you have a two-pole switch, you will need one for each engine. They work by interrupting the power supply (purple wire) to the engine's ignition system.

I'm curious to see what you come up with. I have a 1990 38 fountain with the factory mercury lanyard, and I accidentally walked away with the lanyard. Mine only killed one engine also.
On mine I had to bypass a neutral safety switch on one engine, and I'm wondering if maybe the factory merc lanyard works in relation to the nuetral switch. I just put the boat back in the water and have yet to test it, but when I do I'll share what I found.
